The head of the European Union’s foreign policy, Kaya Kalas, condemned the latest attacks by Russia on Ukraine, claiming that Moscow is attempting to terrorize the civilian population.
She referred to allegations by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that a ballistic missile Oresnik was used in recent attacks.
Kala’s statements
“Russia has reached a stalemate on the battlefield, therefore it is terrorizing Ukraine with deliberate attacks against city centers. These are heinous acts of terrorism aimed at killing as many civilians as possible,” wrote Kallas in X.
Alongside this, he particularly stood by the issue of the Oresnik missiles, noting: “Moscow is said to have used medium-range Oresnik ballistic missiles, systems designed to carry nuclear warheads, and this constitutes a political scare tactic and reckless nuclear acrobatics.”
Concern in Europe about escalation
The statements of Kaya Kalash come at a time of heightened concern in the European Union about the new escalation of the war in Ukraine.
The mention of missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads is causing deep concern in European capitals, while the EU continues to accuse Moscow of attacking populated areas and civilian infrastructure.
