With the exit polls being shown on Cyprus television stations, a lead has been recorded for the Democratic Unionist Party (DISY) in the Megalonissos national elections.
In the same election, the Left – Social Alliance (AKEL) party appears in second place and records a slight increase in its percentages. The far-right party “National Popular Front” (ELAM) appears third. The ‘Democratic Party’ (DIKO) appears fourth. ALMA – Citizens for Cyprus appears in fifth place, while the party “Immediate Democracy of Cyprus” (ADK) seems to enter the Parliament.
Election turnout up
Participation in the 2026 parliamentary elections increased by 2.5% compared to the previous parliamentary elections in 2021. Specifically, the final turnout rate for the 2026 general election was 66.4%, while the final turnout was recorded at 33.6%.
According to Elections Commissioner General Elricos Ilias, 378,150 voters turned out for Sunday’s election, out of 569,182 eligible voters. Compared to the previous parliamentary elections in 2021, turnout was up just 2.5%.
According to Elricos Ilias, a total of 4,374 people voted at 13 polling stations abroad out of a total of 6,501 registrations submitted. In the 13 polling stations that operated for the election of a representative of the Maronite Religious Group, 3,175 people voted, out of a total of 4,624 registered voters or 68.7%.
