We want a unifying ballot<\/b> in the , said the president of SYRIZA-PS, Socrates Famellos<\/b> speaking at the 7th Forum of the Economic Courier<\/b>.<\/p>\n

When asked whether <\/b>there would be a joint ballot for SYRIZA<\/b> with the Greek Left Alliance of Alexis Tsipras<\/b>, Mr. Famellos reiterated that from the beginning of his presidency<\/b> at Koumoundourou <\/b>he had spoken of a unifying ticket of the Left<\/b>. <\/p>\n

He then explained: \u201cSYRIZA made a clear decision at the Central Committee meeting<\/b>. It evaluated the initiative of Alexis Tsipras<\/b> and decided that we view it positively<\/b>, support it, and treat it as a comrade<\/b>. And that it would be a strategic mistake to oppose him<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

SYRIZA wants to contribute to the reconstruction of the progressive camp<\/b> in order to provide a response to the Mitsotakis regime, he added<\/b>.<\/p>\n

As for what will happen in the elections, he replied<\/b>: \u201cWe want and believe that there must be a single ticket in the elections<\/b>. The relevant discussion will evolve until the elections. We are responding to Greek society<\/b> which is telling us, \u2018do something, figure it out.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding to accusations from party officials<\/b>, he said: \u201cI made it clear and rejected any thought of dissolving SYRIZA<\/b>; we are fighting for the continuation of the Left\u2019s ideas<\/b>.\u201d As for whether he has held discussions with Alexis Tsipras, he replied<\/b>: \u201cThe discussion with Alexis Tsipras takes place through public statements<\/b>, as was the decision of the Central Committee<\/b>. My personal and political relationship with Alexis Tsipras<\/b> is very good, but that is not how dialogue takes place<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also responded to Polakis\u2019s request to reach an agreement with Alexis Tsipras within ten days<\/b>, saying: \u201cThe Central Committee rejected the proposal for a Plan B<\/b>, as well as the discussion about moving toward programmatic convergence<\/b>. Any alternative plan undermines confidence in the original one. I am committed to the plan we decided on, and I understand<\/b> what the citizens want. A discussion that overturns the Central Committee\u2019s decision<\/b> does not help the citizens. The distortion of the Central Committee\u2019s decision\u2014that we stand together<\/b>\u2014does not respond to the citizens\u2019 wishes. It is best for our comrades to respect the decision and work toward its implementation<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
