And the more Nikos Androulakis attempts to impose discipline through leaks, warnings, and reminders of his leadership, the more the real problem seems to be revealed: that dissent within the party has not only not subsided, but is growing.

The much-touted “warnings” to those who challenge the leadership’s line sound more like an expression of insecurity than a show of strength. Because in a party where polls remain stagnant, electoral momentum is fading, and the public is not convinced that there is an alternative proposal for power, internal party rivals are not afraid. On the contrary, they are waiting.

Those… waiting in the wings

The contenders have realized that time is on their side. They see that the president is struggling to impose a political agenda, that his interventions do not create a political event, and that the party’s public image remains unclear. That is why no one is in a hurry. No one is officially raising the issue of leadership today. But everyone is taking up battle positions for the day after.

The situation resembles a political stalemate. Party officials with personal ambitions, MPs who do not hide their disagreements, and traditional centers of influence are monitoring developments, knowing that every new drop in the polls will increase the pressure on the leadership. “Scare tactics” do not change reality.

The biggest problem for Nikos Androulakis is that he is not only being challenged by individuals. He is challenged by the results themselves. When a party aspires to govern and ends up constantly discussing its internal balances, then the problem is not one of communication—it is strategic.

And as long as the leadership appears to be more concerned with managing internal party turmoil than with creating a political movement, PASOK will resemble a nutshell in a stormy sea. A ship whose crew is already looking to see who will be at the helm for the next turn.

At a time when PASOK’s leadership is attempting to present a united front against Alexis Tsipras and the scenarios of political realignment within the Center-Left, a statement has emerged to cause new headaches at Harilaou Trikoupi.

The position of Michalis Katrinis that the political movement created by the former prime minister could serve as a negotiating partner for PASOK landed like a bombshell in the already tense internal party climate. This is because it stands in direct opposition to the line that Nikos Androulakis has attempted to chart, who for months has been trying to convince people that PASOK is following an independent course free of outside influence and dependencies.

This particular approach strongly echoed the positions of Sokratis Famellos, who has left the door open for political dialogue within the broader progressive spectrum. Only this time, the message was even louder: some within and around PASOK believe that political reality will necessitate dialogue with the new formation centered on Alexis Tsipras.

The problem for Androulakis is not just the substance of the statement. It is its symbolism. Because it shows that there is no unified line. It shows that different factions within the party interpret developments differently and are preparing for different scenarios.

Others view Tsipras as a political rival who must be kept out of the game. Others believe that the former prime minister’s new political initiative could shift the balance of power and lead to new alliances. And it is precisely this contradiction that reveals the deeper problem of the current leadership.

Constant contradictions

As long as PASOK cannot clarify what it wants to be, it will remain a prisoner of its internal contradictions. And as long as its officials send mixed messages about the future of its alliances, the image of a party searching for its identity will only be reinforced.

The question now is not whether the statement bothered Nikos Androulakis.

The question is how many within the party silently share this view and are waiting for the right moment to express it publicly. Because then the issue will not be a simple difference of opinion. It will be a direct challenge to the leadership’s political strategy. The countdown has begun…

PASOK increasingly resembles a party adrift, lacking direction and a clear destination.
The image of introversion, of …

[3

post-10280","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
