{"id":10536,"date":"2026-06-13T13:22:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T10:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=10536"},"modified":"2026-06-13T13:22:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T10:22:00","slug":"skerzos-takes-a-swipe-at-the-opposition-theyre-promising-money-that-doesnt-exist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=10536","title":{"rendered":"Skerzos takes a swipe at the opposition &#8211; They\u2019re promising money that doesn\u2019t exist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>     The Minister of State, <strong>Akis Skertsos<\/strong>, launched a new attack against the opposition, accusing the parties of having no concrete proposal to strengthen development, investment and the economy as a whole. <\/p>\n<p>     In a post, the government official argued that the fundamental difference between the government and the opposition parties is that \u201cnone of them has a proposal to increase the country\u2019s GDP and grow the economy and investment.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>     At the same time, he directed his criticism at the opposition parties regarding their promises of benefits, noting that \u201cthey have already begun promising benefits using money that does not exist.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>     He also referred to the elections, writing characteristically: \u201cThey have already started promising benefits from money that doesn\u2019t exist instead of asking themselves this simple question: &#8216;Why did the New Democracy party\u2019s realistic and responsible 8-billion-euro government program win out over SYRIZA\u2019s irresponsible and uncosted 80-billion-euro program in 2023?&#8217;\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>     <strong>Akis Skertsos<\/strong> also argued that <strong>social policy<\/strong> can only be based on a strong economic foundation and increased wealth creation. <\/p>\n<p>     \u201cLet\u2019s say it again, then, so they can really get it: social policy requires growth and investment.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>     He went on to explain that without an increase in economic activity, there can be no additional funding for critical sectors such as <strong>health<\/strong>, <strong>education<\/strong>, <strong>transportation<\/strong>, and <strong>defense<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>     \u201cIn order to be able to allocate more money to health, education, transportation, and defense, you must have a proposal to increase the \u2018pie\u2019 without creating new deficits or increasing the debt.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>     Concluding his post, the Minister of State took a jab at <strong>PASOK<\/strong>, <strong>SYRIZA<\/strong>, and the other opposition parties, stating:\u00a0 \u201cIt is sad that after 10 years of studying the PASOK memoranda, SYRIZA and other parties have still not learned this lesson. Growth first, then redistribution.
