Kyriakos Mitsotakis Kyriakos Mitsotakis outlined from Rhodes the outline of the government\u2019s political strategy for the final stretch leading up to the 2027 elections, focusing on security<\/strong>, economic stability<\/strong>, and the need to avoid \u201cexperimentation\u201d which, as he said, the country has already paid for in the past. <\/p>\n

The prime minister spoke to citizens and officials of New Democracy, while also sending a message of unity to the party base. As he noted, the government is now entering the final year of its term, with its sights set on the spring 2027 elections. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day counts\u2014elections will be held in the spring of 2027, right on schedule,\u201d he noted emphatically, while adding in a sharp tone directed at his political opponents: \u201cWe are experienced marathon runners\u2014some others have already run out of steam.\u201d <\/p>\n

Kyriakos Mitsotakis sought to highlight the difference between the government and the opposition, emphasizing that New Democracy will move forward without promises that cannot be fulfilled. <\/p>\n

\u201cNew Democracy will be the only party with a credible proposal for Greece in 2030,\u201d he said, adding: \u201cI will implement what I can do, and I will not promise what I cannot do\u201d. <\/p>\n

At the same time, he placed particular emphasis on the issue of inflation<\/strong>, acknowledging that price hikes are putting pressure on households, despite wage increases. <\/p>\n

\u201cInflation has eaten into wage increases, but because our finances are in order, we can support households,\u201d he said, making it clear that he does not intend to pursue a pre-election policy of handouts. \u201cTo be more popular before the election, I will not undermine our finances,\u201d he emphasized. <\/p>\n

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: What he said about defense<\/strong> <\/h3>\n

The Prime Minister placed particular emphasis on strengthening the Armed Forces and the country\u2019s geopolitical position, linking economic policy to the need for national security. <\/p>\n

\u201cHere, the sky and the sea are a little bluer than elsewhere \u2014 My first duty is to keep my homeland safe \u2014 with all of your support, we have the most combat-ready armed forces our homeland has ever had,\u201d he emphasized. <\/p>\n

Kyriakos Mitsotakis described investment in defense as a necessary choice for the country, especially during a period of international turmoil. <\/p>\n

\u201cInvesting in defense is not a choice but a necessity in a country at a critical geopolitical crossroads \u2014the armed forces are here to defend sovereign rights against anyone who might feel they can encroach upon sovereignty or sovereign rights,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n

Attack on the opposition and appeal to the New Democracy base<\/strong> <\/h3>\n

The prime minister launched an attack on the opposition parties, accusing them of having the sole aim of bringing down the government. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd all this from an opposition whose sole concern is how to bring down New Democracy and Mitsotakis\u2014we won\u2019t do them that favor,\u201d he said pointedly. <\/p>\n

At the same time, he called on party officials to maintain the party\u2019s unity ahead of the next election. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe rely on our party base, which is the backbone of New Democracy\u2014you supported us and we won the previous elections, and we will do so a third time \u2014to continue our work, keep our country safe, and ensure progress and prosperity for all,\u201d he emphasized. <\/p>\n

In closing, he presented the political dilemma that, as he said, will dominate the run-up to the elections. <\/p>\n
