The arrival of the delegation from Chevron <\/b>today in Athens, to finalize the agreement for the company\u2019s entry<\/b> into the so-called Block 10 <\/b>off the coast of the Gulf of Kyparissia, announced the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr.Stavros Papastavrou, speaking on ANT1.<\/p>\n

As he noted, following the submission of the request <\/b>by the American company to participate in the surveys<\/b> hydrocarbons <\/b>the relevant procedures were completed, and today at noon <\/b>a meeting will be held at the Ministry to formalize <\/b>this agreement.which concerns its entry into a fifth block, in so-called Block 10 <\/b> off the coast of Kyparissia Bay, in the southern Ionian Sea, which until now was held by Hellenic Energy, announced the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou, speaking this morning on ANT1 and on the program \u201cGood Morning Greece,\u201d with journalists Panagiotis Stathis and Stefanos Siskos. \u201cThis development demonstrates Chevron\u2019s interest in expanding its presence in our country and essentially brings us closer to the effort to exploit <\/b>the hydrocarbon sector,\u201d, the minister stated.<\/p>\n

He noted that Chevron\u2019s entry into the fifth offshore block <\/b>in our country follows its entry into the two offshore blocks south of Crete and the two south of the Peloponnese and expands Chevron\u2019s presence in Greece. He also reiterated that the first exploratory drilling will take place in February 2027, in the northwestern Ionian Sea, by the ExxonMobil-Energean-Helleniq Energy consortium.<\/b><\/p>\n

Commenting on developments in the Iran-U.S. conflict,<\/b> he noted that there is an immediate de-escalation<\/b> of the military conflict, while according to reports, the Strait of Hormuz is also opening. <\/b>\u201cThe markets have already interpreted this, as oil and natural gas prices are falling by 5% in Asian markets. Essentially, if the agreement is confirmed, stability will be restored in the region, which will bring normalcy to the global economy,\u201d he noted, while also emphasizing that we will continue to see the consequences of the war for several more weeks or even months. At the same time, Mr. Papastavrou emphasized once again that in Greece<\/b>, from the very beginning, all companies, the relevant authorities, and the Ministry gathered around the same table and took all necessary measures <\/b>to ensure security of supply <\/b>to the market.<\/p>\n

Referring to his recent trip to the U.S. <\/b>, Mr. Papastavrou emphasized that it was confirmed there that the instrumentalization <\/b>of energy<\/b>, whenever and wherever it occurs, is reprehensible<\/b>, while, referring to the 3+1 countries (Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and the U.S.),<\/b> he emphasized that their cooperation for the development of the energy sector in the Eastern Mediterranean was reaffirmed, through the adoption of a specific framework of principles and rules, which excludes coercive behavior and threats.<\/p>\n

Finally, regarding urban planning<\/b>, Mr. Papastavrou emphasized that no one is above the law. <\/b>\u201cThere is the intention and the government policy to bring everything to light <\/b>, and the Prime Minister has said this from the very beginning,\u201d he noted. He also noted that when urban planning responsibilities were transferred to the municipalities in 2010, it was considered a positive development in the context of decentralization because it brought services closer to the citizen.<\/p>\n

However, \u201cin practice, this created gaps and overlaps in responsibilities, which, together with the multiplicity of laws, left room for malfunctions<\/b>, different interpretations, and allowed conditions for opacity to arise.\u201d A problem that, as he said, is corrected by the recent Spatial Planning Code – Urban Planning \u201cNikolaos Tagaras<\/b>,\u201d which essentially codifies 180 different laws and presidential decrees into 477 articles. \u201cNow we know what applies,\u201d he said characteristically. At the same time, he referred to the great importance of the reform that introduces \u201ca gov.gr for urban planning\u201d<\/b>, \u201cso that there is a digital record of the file and the plot, thereby limiting the human factor, as was done previously with tax offices.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
