She emphasized that the government is judged daily by its results and not by \u201cthe debate surrounding the polls<\/b>,\u201d while focusing on populism and the contradictions<\/b> of the opposition<\/b>.<\/p>\n
When asked specifically about the recent polls<\/b>, Ms. Sdoukou <\/b>noted that \u2018our top priority is the problems<\/b> and how we can provide solutions to them on a daily basis, because that\u2019s what people are paying attention to\u2014not the discussion we\u2019re having in our own little bubble about opinion polls. However, I must point out that even though there is a realignment within the opposition today, the New Democracy remains firmly in first place and is even trending upward, which says a lot about the efforts we\u2019re making<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n
The New Democracy spokesperson pointed out that \u201cthe question of who has a sense<\/b> of society\u2019s problems is of particular importance, and in this regard, Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> has a distinct advantage. Citizens recognize that he is not simply a leader with technocratic skills and the ability to manage crises, but that he is grounded in society, and citizens know that he understands their problems, their anxieties.<\/p>\n
At the same time, one can see from the findings that citizens view opposition parties as protest parties rather than as an alternative proposal<\/b> for governance.\u201d He also pointed out that, over time, whatever initial momentum a new party has will subside, and \u201cthe candidates, platforms, and positions each party supports will be compared.\u201d<\/p>\n
Regarding the benefits proposed by the opposition parties, Ms. Sdoukou emphasized \u201cthat you won\u2019t hear any populist rhetoric<\/b> from us that could lead us into new adventures. The benefits we provide are targeted where there are real needs.\u201d He also emphasized that \u201chere we are discussing benefits while other countries are running deficits and doing the opposite<\/b>. This is a testament to the fiscal responsibility we\u2019ve shown over the years, and under no circumstances do we want to jeopardize this fiscal stability.\u201d<\/p>\n
