Could someone politely remind Alexis Tsipras that it may have become the official opposition<\/b> within a single day<\/b> and with a vote share of around 15%,<\/b> but exactly the same thing had happened on May 21, 2023.<\/b>During the roughly twelve hours that the polls were open, SYRIZA<\/b>\u2014the same applies to ELAS<\/b>, just to clarify\u2014emerged as the official opposition<\/b>, in fact with a higher <\/b>percentage than what the polls<\/b> currently give it. At that time, it had approximately 17% <\/b>and not the 15% it has now, even in the polls.<\/p>\n
That is why the picture seems somewhat paradoxical<\/b>. It\u2019s not clear why a position he already held\u2014albeit under different circumstances\u2014is being presented as a major political vindication<\/b>. Nor is it clear why there is such celebration <\/b>over the return <\/b>to a percentage lower <\/b>than the one with which he left, heavily\u2014politically wounded <\/b>by the leadership of SYRIZA<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The paradox becomes even greater when one considers that Alexis Tsipras had been absent <\/b>from the front lines for nearly three years.
