With a sharp intervention<\/b> from the floor of the Plenary Session of the European Parliament<\/b>, New Democracy MEP Eleonora Meleti, sent a strong message regarding the need to protect minors <\/b>from the dangers <\/b>and challenges of social media.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the discussion, Eleonora Meleti <\/b>focused on the phenomenon of child influencers,<\/b> describing it as vulgar<\/b>. As she pointed out, at a time when society is fighting to eliminate child labor<\/b> in factories, on the streets, and at traffic lights, a new phenomenon of child exploitation is taking hold on social media,<\/b> often with the consent <\/b>or even the encouragement of adults<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Even when children <\/b>are not directly compensated for the content <\/b>they produce, they are exposed to inappropriate role models<\/b>, they learn to measure their worth through their digital reach<\/b>, and they are gradually stripped of their childlike innocence,<\/b>the MEP emphasized.<\/p>\n

Eleonora Meleti<\/b> reiterated the need to take substantive measures <\/b>to protect <\/b>minors in the digital space, so that children can grow up and develop free from pressure<\/b>, commercialization <\/b>and premature exposure to the public sphere.<\/b><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
