The major expansion of Greek<\/b>, as the project<\/b> is now moving beyond the construction phase to the gradual activation of key infrastructure<\/b>.<\/p>\n
During the visit of the Vice President of the Government<\/b>, Kostis Hatzidakis<\/b>, at the Elliniko construction site, the CEO of LAMDA Development, Odysseas Athanasiou, presented the progress of the work and the next milestones in the development.<\/p>\n
According to the briefing, the first sports facilities<\/b> of The Ellinikon Sports Park will begin to be delivered in phases starting in July 2026, while the first residents are expected to move into the new residential developments at Ellinikon in early 2027.<\/p>\nEllinikon is gaining functional infrastructure <\/h3>\n
Kostis Hatzidakis<\/b>, who has been tasked by the government with coordinating initiatives to accelerate the project, emphasized that the investment is now entering a tangible phase<\/b> of implementation.<\/p>\n
As he stated, \u201cThe major investment in Elliniko is no longer just a theory; it\u2019s not just about bulldozers\u2014it\u2019s beginning to take shape. Starting in early 2027, the first tenants and residents will move into the various buildings here, which they will have purchased in the meantime. Before that, however, the large sports center<\/b> at Elliniko will have been handed over as early as July for public use, and in September – October, the official opening ceremony will take place.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the government will continue to support the progress of the investment, while respecting the Constitution, the laws, the environment, the requests of neighboring municipalities<\/b>, and the needs of the area\u2019s residents.<\/p>\nSolution for the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation <\/h3>\n
During the visit, it was also announced that the issue concerning the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation had been resolved. Based on the agreement reached with LAMDA Development, the Federation will be housed in Hangar B<\/b>, also known as Hangar B, in new, modern sports facilities.<\/p>\n
Until the work is completed\u2014which is expected to take 15 months\u2014a temporary accommodation solution has been planned for the athletes. Gymnasts will be hosted at the OAKA, while for rhythmic gymnastics the plan is initially to use the Tae Kwon Do facility<\/b> and subsequently the OAKA Velodrome.<\/p>\n
Mr. Hatzidakis<\/b> stated that \u201canother obstacle has been overcome in a very positive way<\/b>, the establishment of the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation,\u201d emphasizing that this is an official government position within the framework of coordination to advance the project.<\/p>\nDiscussions on the track are moving forward <\/h3>\n
The Deputy Prime Minister also addressed the issue of the track\u2019s construction, noting that significant progress has been made in the discussions<\/b> between LAMDA Development, the government, the Region of Attica, and SEGAS.<\/p>\n
As he said, the parties are close to a solution, and official announcements are expected soon.<\/p>\n
For his part, the CEO of LAMDA Development, Odysseas Athanasiou, stated that the development is at the beginning of the 12-month completion period<\/b> for Phase A of Elliniko.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn one month, we will be handing over the Elliniko Sports Park to athletes, clubs, and the public. Soccer, basketball, tennis, and track and field facilities will be available for everyone to enjoy<\/b>, both professional and amateur athletes, as well as anyone who loves sports,\u201d said Mr. Athanasiou.<\/p>\n
He noted that LAMDA Development is close to finalizing an agreement with the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation, as well as an agreement with SEGAS. He also thanked Sofia Sakorafa, Kostas Kenteris and Lefteris Petrounias for their contribution<\/b> to reaching these agreements.<\/p>\nGradual handover of the Sports Park to begin in July <\/h3>\n
During his visit, Kostis Hatzidakis visited Hangar B, where the facilities of the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation will be built.<\/p>\n
He then visited The Ellinikon Sports Park, which will begin phased handover starting in July 2026. The first phase includes the track, the throwing area<\/b>, as well as the soccer and tennis courts.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Prime Minister was also briefed on the track that is being prepared for the special stage<\/b> of the EKO Acropolis Rally on June 25.<\/p>\n
The sports facilities and public green spaces will be fully accessible to the public, a feature that integrates the project into the city\u2019s daily life<\/b> rather than focusing exclusively on its residential or commercial aspects.<\/p>\nLittle Athens and the first residences <\/h3>\n
The tour concluded in the Trachones Stream area and the Little Athens neighborhood, where work is underway to create a new residential community<\/b> next to Metropolitan Park and the Athenian Riviera.<\/p>\n
Special mention was made of Promenade Heights, a complex of 79 residences spread across nine buildings. Their completion and handover<\/b> to residents is expected in the first half of 2027.<\/p>\n
With the first sports facilities scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2026 and residents moving in starting in early 2027, Elliniko is entering its operational phase<\/b>.
