Harilaou Trikoupi <b>adopts a stance of institutional detachment<\/b>, avoiding <b>politically \u201cdefining\u201d the framework of the disagreement, a fact that reinforces the image of internal confusion<\/b> and leaves room <b>for the escalation of statements from both sides<\/b>. At a time when <b>top officials are exchanging harsh words over the strategy for cooperation<\/b>, the absence of immediate <b>leadership intervention fuels the debate<\/b> regarding <b>a lack of central control and a clear line within the party<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>PASOK<\/b> leadership is keeping its distance <b>from the public confrontation<\/b> between <b>Anna Diamantopoulou and Haris Doukas<\/b> regarding <b>coalitions<\/b>, the leadership of <b>PASOK<\/b> is maintaining a distance, believing that these <b>accusations are harmful to the party<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>The \u201cPontius Pilate\u201d Logic<\/h3>\n<p>In a \u201cPontius Pilate\u201d-style statement, officials at the H. Trikoupis headquarters noted: \u201cInstead of top officials wasting their time on public recriminations, the party\u2019s base\u2014the democratic community and society at large\u2014expects them to communicate PASOK\u2019s proposals. Everyone is judged and must take responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PASOK officials made no secret of their disagreement and annoyance regarding both Anna Diamantopoulou\u2019s statement and Doukas\u2019s response. Regarding Ms. Diamantopoulou\u2019s view, they noted that \u201cshe should not have characterized Mr. Doukas\u2019s approach as \u2018ridiculous,\u2019 knowing that it would provoke his reaction, while her statement that \u2018the country will not be left without a government.\u2019 For his part, the mayor responded in strong terms. \u201cThis is not the image we expect from top officials,\u201d they emphasized in an interview with protothema.<\/p>\n<h3>The&#8230; Diamantopoulou\u2019s tirade<br \/><\/h3>\n<p>It all began when Anna Diamantopoulou launched a tirade against Haris Doukas over the issue of collaborations, prompting the mayor of Athens to respond in kind.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Diamantopoulou sharply stated on Open TV that the discussion the mayor of Athens tried to initiate regarding a pre-election collaboration with Tsipras\u2019s party is \u201ca recipe for throwing open doors and windows so voters can walk out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis issue, which we\u2019re discussing right now, is a recipe for a party to throw open doors and windows and lose voters. Is that right? I mean, I can\u2019t imagine a more ridiculous approach,\u201d Ms. Diamantopoulou pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>The former Commissioner also said that PASOK does not want to hand over centrist voters to New Democracy, while making it clear that the issue of coalition partnerships for governing will depend on the mandate voters give at the polls.<\/p>\n<h3>Doukas\u2019s sharp response to Diamantopoulou<br \/><\/h3>\n<p>Haris Doukas responded to Ms. Diamantopoulou shortly thereafter. In a social media post, the mayor of Athens accused her of expressing views that do not represent PASOK. \u201cThe views expressed today by Ms. Diamantopoulou\u2014in which she praises the New Democracy government for its fiscal successes and the country\u2019s image abroad\u2014do not reflect the views of PASOK.
