Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis<\/strong>, speaking on SKAI\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d program, launched a fierce attack against former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras<\/strong>, arguing that during his time in office, significant tax burdens<\/strong> were imposed on the broadest segments of society. <\/p>\n Mr. Marinakis<\/strong> stated that Mr. Tsipras<\/strong> governed for 4.5 years<\/strong> and, as he said, instead of reducing the tax burden, he implemented measures that affected the middle class<\/strong> and low-income earners<\/strong>. <\/p>\n \u201cI saw them taxing all the other tax ID numbers<\/strong>: those of the middle class<\/strong> and low-income earners<\/strong>,\u201d he stated emphatically. <\/p>\n At the same time, he argued that the ENFIA<\/strong>, which had been a central point of political contention at that time, was not only not abolished but skyrocketed<\/strong>, placing a heavy burden on a large portion of the population. <\/p>\n The government spokesperson also highlighted the income tax<\/strong>, noting that the combined application of the 29%<\/strong> rate and the 100% tax prepayment<\/strong> had created particularly high burdens for taxpayers. <\/p>\n Concluding his remarks, Pavlos Marinakis<\/strong> argued that the government of SYRIZA government had, overall, imposed 32 taxes<\/strong>, attributing the increased tax burden on households and professionals to the economic policy of that time. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n Marinakis: \u201cTsipras was in power for 4.5 years.
