The strategic importance of regional cooperation<\/b> for the development of transportation <\/b>and infrastructure <\/b>was highlighted by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, Christos Dimas<\/b>, during his speech at the Transport Investment Summit in Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the session \u201cThe Next Wave of Connectivity: Emerging Investment Opportunities Across the Regions,\u201d Mr. Dimas pointed out that the real investment opportunity of the next decade lies in a broader geographic area encompassing the Western Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean, and countries neighboring the European Union<\/b>.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the region has historically faced instability and challenges, but today there is an opportunity to make a strategic choice toward cooperation, which can yield shared economic and social benefits<\/b>.<\/p>\n
He focused his remarks on the development of major cross-border transport corridors<\/b>, such as the Western Balkans \u2013 Eastern Mediterranean<\/b> and the Baltic \u2013 Black Sea \u2013 Aegean Corridor<\/b>, which can enhance interconnectivity and the flow of goods and investments<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The minister noted that strengthening cooperation requires not only infrastructure, but also financial instruments, human resources, improved procedures, and effective coordination among countries<\/b>.
