{"id":11768,"date":"2026-06-19T19:34:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T16:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=11768"},"modified":"2026-06-19T19:34:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T16:34:00","slug":"konstantinos-kyranakis-our-message-is-that-greece-can-become-even-stronger-attack-on-tsipras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=11768","title":{"rendered":"Konstantinos Kyranakis: Our message is that Greece can become even stronger &#8211; Attack on Tsipras"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The party\u2019s \u201cslogan\u201d for the upcoming <b>election<\/b> was announced by <b>Thessaloniki<\/b> by <b>Konstantinos Kyranakis<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b>\u201cIn the 2027 elections, our message is that Greece is strong and can become even stronger\u2014economically, militarily, and geopolitically\u2014and this vision unites us<\/b>,\u201d said the secretary of the Political Committee of <b>New Democracy<\/b>,\u00a0<strong>Konstantinos Kyranakis<\/strong>, who, together with the party\u2019s general director, <b>Yiannis Smyrlis<\/b>, <b>visited the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Macedonia, and Thrace, Kostas Gioulekas<\/b>, at the Governor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b>The mandate I have received from the Prime Minister is for unity, solidarity, and optimism<\/b>, which must stem from the projects and achievements of this government. In this final stretch of 400 meters, which will lead us to the polls, we need a steady pace and a steady intensity all the way to the finish line. <b>And at the polls, we know very well that the people of Northern Greece will trust us only if we restore hope, only if our message for Greece in 2030 is clear, understandable, and powerful<\/b>,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically regarding <b>Thessaloniki <\/b>, he emphasized that \u201c<b>it is now undergoing a transportation revolution<\/b>,\u201d citing projects such as the metro and others currently underway.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a reporter\u2019s question about <b>who New Democracy\u2019s political rival is, he replied \u201cMr. Tsipras\u2019s party\u201d<\/b> and attacked the former prime minister, saying: \u201cThe political landscape has changed. Our opponent is now Mr. Tsipras\u2019s party, the party that calls itself \u2018ELAS.\u2019 <b>And ELAS evokes dark chapters in Greek history<\/b>. <b>To the civil war\u2014dark chapters that many generations fought to leave behind<\/b>\u2014many generations fought so that we could achieve <b>national reconciliation<\/b>. And I think that<b> this move by Mr. Tsipras is truly inexplicable, because it signals a deeply divisive pre-election period, which has already begun<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b>Our opponent is the Left\u2014and the ideas of the Left have been definitively defeated by Greek society<\/b>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>When asked <b>why he hadn\u2019t said anything about PASOK, he replied<\/b>: \u201c<b>I didn\u2019t say anything to you because, in any case, the Greek people say even less about PASOK<\/b>. It is beginning to lose its character, <b>it is beginning to shrink politically<\/b>. There are internal dilemmas they must address; it is not my place to comment on them. <b>\u201cOur goal is to be absolutely trustworthy and consistent in keeping our own promises and to inspire hope for the future in the 2027 elections<\/b>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the <b>possibility that former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras<\/b>, Mr. <b>Kyranakis <\/b>replied: \u201cAntonis Samaras was a good prime minister for the country and for the political camp. He took the reins of Greece during an extremely difficult period\u2014a time when our country was on the brink of collapse\u2014and saved it. That fact remains unchanged, despite the<b> unfair criticism that Antonis Samaras has been directing at us in recent months\u2014criticism that, obviously, saddens us all<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>He emphasized that it is the rank-and-file New Democrat who will be saddened if Mr. Samaras forms a new party<\/b>. He recalled that \u201cthe rank-and-file New Democrat stayed with the party when Antonis Samaras was in power, and that is what we want them to do now\u2014to remain with the party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b>We are opening up our candidate lists to young people. We want to inspire trust in young people once again<\/b>. We are moving forward with our plan, our strategy.
