The ban will also apply to digital platforms and audiovisual media.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Council argues that the ban is necessary due to the rise in anti-Semitic incidents. However, certain <strong>exceptions<\/strong> are provided for educational, scientific, cultural, and journalistic purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The exact date for the vote on the ban has not yet been set, which is considered merely a formality, since Parliament had already requested that the government draft the relevant <strong>bill<\/strong> in 2024. In the future, the ban will be extended to other symbols of a racist or extremist nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNazi symbols represent an ideology that despises human life and is contrary to the fundamental values of a democratic and liberal society. <strong>Racism<\/strong> and anti-Semitism are unacceptable in our society,\u201d the government emphasized in its statement.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the criminal code provides for <strong>criminal prosecution<\/strong> of anyone who uses Nazi, racist, and extremist symbols to promote an ideology.
