The arrest <\/b>of two 17-year-olds for child pornography <\/b>carried out by the Cybercrime Division and the Northern Greece Cybercrime Subdivision, as part of a coordinated operation.<\/p>\n

According to the Hellenic Police announcement, this was preceded by a thorough and in-depth digital analysis and evaluation of intelligence and data, and through cooperation and information sharing with relevant foreign authorities (NCMEC and Homeland Security Investigations in the U.S. <\/b>), two internet users located within Greek territory were identified; through accounts they managed on social media platforms, allegedly threatened and blackmailed underage girls, extracting pornographic material depicting them.<\/p>\n

At the same time, they urged the underage victims to engage in acts of self-harm, including carving into their bodies the names or nicknames they used on the accounts through which they operated.<\/p>\n

What evidence emerged<\/h3>\n

In fact, a comprehensive review of the preliminary investigation materials revealed evidence that these users are affiliated with or operate within the context of an extremist-sadistic abuse group, which constitutes an organized network operating internationally via the internet, known for targeting minors through online platforms.<\/p>\n

The members of this group, through threats, blackmail, and intense psychological pressure<\/b> sought to coerce their underage victims into producing and sending child sexual abuse material<\/b>, as well as inciting, encouraging, or coercing them into acts of self-harm<\/b>, while in some cases there are also reports of attempts to push them toward self-destructive or suicidal acts.<\/p>\n

To investigate the case, a preliminary investigation was ordered following relevant orders from the public prosecutor\u2019s office, and through correspondence with internet and telecommunications service providers, the details were verified, the home internet connections and places of residence of the individuals involved in Crete and Thessaloniki<\/b>.<\/p>\n

This was followed by a coordinated operation, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, June 18, 2026, by police units from the Cybercrime Division in Heraklion, Crete<\/b> with the assistance of officers from the Malevizi Police Department and the Northern Greece Cybercrime Sub-Directorate in the Thessaloniki area<\/b>.<\/p>\n

During searches of the defendants\u2019 residences, conducted in the presence of judicial officials, the following items were found and seized:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • Two- mobile phones,<\/li>\n
  • a computer<\/li>\n
  • a computer hard drive, and<\/li>\n
  • an external hard drive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A digital forensic analysis conducted on the above digital evidence videos depicting the sexual abuse of minors<\/b> were found, as well as photographs and videos of individuals self-harming<\/b>.<\/p>\n

    The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations of Northern Greece, respectively, for laboratory analysis.<\/p>\n

    Criminal charges<\/b> were filed against the two 17-year-olds under summary proceedings. The arrested individuals, along with the charges filed against them, were brought before the competent prosecuting authorities and referred for formal questioning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
