Firefighters are waging a titanic battle against the flames in Euboea<\/b>, following the major forest fire<\/b> that broke out at noon on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The fire broke out in the area between Almyropotamos<\/b> and Mesochoria<\/b>, in the Municipality of Karystos<\/b>, with 112 having sent a message to evacuate two settlements<\/b>.<\/p>\n

A message was sent to the area by 112, urging citizens in Mesochoria<\/b> and Raptioi<\/b> to evacuate toward Styra. \u201cIf you are in the areas of Mesochoria and Raptioi, evacuate toward Styra<\/i>,\u201d while residents are urged to follow the authorities\u2019 instructions.<\/p>\n

Firefighting efforts are being made particularly difficult by the strong winds blowing in the area. According to reports from eviaonline.gr, aerial firefighting resources are experiencing difficulties drawing water from Karystos<\/b> and are forced to move toward Aliveri<\/b> to refuel, which is prolonging the duration of the operations. Meanwhile, for safety reasons , power has also been cut off in the area <\/b>.<\/p>\n

Fire department forces have been reinforced, and 100 firefighters, four ground teams, and 29 fire department vehicles are now on the scene, while six helicopters<\/b>\u2014one of which is serving as a coordination helicopter<\/b>\u2014and eight aircraft<\/b> are providing aerial support.
