He failed as prime minister because he betrayed the people, violated the mandate of the referendum, imposed the memoranda, and relentlessly persecuted anyone who resisted. “Because what they’re saying now is exactly what Tsipras said about me when I refused to sign on to the third memorandum.”

She then referred to the period of her rift with the then-SYRIZA government, stating:

“When I voted against it, his ministers would come out, the late Flambouraris would come out and say that it was up to Nietzsche and Freud to resolve the issue of Life. In other words, the abuse that’s happening now from Mitsotakis’s circle and the media was also happening back then under Tsipras.”

At the same time, he launched a new attack on SYRIZA’s time in government, saying:

“Tsipras is a man who governed through memoranda and repression. During his time at Maximos, police vans were arranged like Tetris pieces to block access to Maximos. During his time in office, Zak Kostopoulos was murdered.”

He also made special mention of the tragedy in Mati, stating: “It’s July 23, 2018. The town of Mati has burned down, and Tsipras knows that 60 to 70 people have died. He knew at that time, at 12:00 a.m., that there were 60 to 70 dead. Everyone knew. These facts have been established, including from the Mati trial, where I testified and where we also filed the first criminal complaint.”

Continuing her critique of the tragedy in Mati, she noted: “And they step in front of the TV cameras, live on air, and they put on a staged act—it’s the most poorly acted performance anyone could ever see, but also spine-chilling—and they pretend they know nothing. I mean, it’s a holocaust in peacetime in Mati. They know there are 60 to 70 dead, and they’re sitting around the table staring at each other. And they keep talking about Kineta and Kineta, and then Tsipras says, “What about that fire in Neo Voutza?” Is this man going to govern again? Do people want to vote for him? Do we want to entrust our lives to this person?».

When asked about the polls showing Alexis Tsipras returning to the forefront, the president of the Freedom Movement questioned their credibility.

“I don’t consider them reliable. The publicity surrounding Alexis Tsipras is unprecedented, and I say this because, as a former Speaker of Parliament, when I founded the Freedom Movement in 2016, neither my name nor the party’s was heard until almost the moment Iwe entered the House of Representatives.
