Of course, on Friday he reiterated that he \u201cwill fight\u201d to remain in power, since his main rival for the Labour leadership, the mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, was elected to Parliament and is threatening to try to oust him.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Secretary of State for Trade, Peter Kyle <\/b> stated today that the unpopular prime minister \u201cis taking his time to assess the political reality, the challenges, and the opportunities he faces.\u201d Speaking on the television channel <b> Sky News <\/b>, Peter Kyle said he had a \u201cfrank\u201d discussion with Keir Starmer, who also spoke with \u201cmany other people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Observer<\/b> reported on its front page today that Keir Starmer will resign tomorrow, Monday. The <b>Sunday Telegraph <\/b>reports that he is \u201cready\u201d to step down, citing close associates. According to the <b>Observer<\/b> report, Starmer \u201cwill set the timeline for his departure\u201d and spent the entire weekend in talks at Chequers, the British prime minister\u2019s country residence.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cI wish him all the best\u201d<\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The president of the <b>U.S.<\/b>, <b>Donald Trump <\/b>considers the resignation of the Labour Prime Minister a foregone conclusion, and wished him \u201call the best.\u201d \u201cKeir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He has failed spectacularly on two very important issues: immigration and energy (take advantage of North Sea oil!). I wish him all the best,\u201d he wrote in his post on Truth Social.<\/p>\n<h3>100 MPs are calling for Starmer\u2019s resignation<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper is among the top ministers who have called for Starmer\u2019s resignation. More than 100 MPs are also calling for his resignation\u2014just under a quarter of the party\u2019s MPs.<\/p>\n<p><b>The 63-year-old former lawyer, who specializes in human rights law, walked through the gates of Downing Street on July 5, 2024,<\/b> following Labour\u2019s landslide victory in the general election. <\/p>\n<p>Expectations were high in a Britain that had been divided by Brexit and 14 years of Conservative governments, yet two years later, the country is facing a stagnant economy, rising living costs, and public services\u2014particularly healthcare\u2014that have been brought to their knees after years of austerity.<\/p>\n<p>His government has not been immune to <b>scandals<\/b>. Some ministers, such as Deputy Prime Minister Angela Reiner, were forced to resign.
