Call <\/b>for proposals funding <\/b>in the amount of 120,000 euros<\/b> to the National Observatory of Athens<\/b> has published the Ministry of Development<\/b>, for the project: \u201cReassessment of seismicity <\/b>in the Attica region based on a three-dimensional velocity model.\u201d<\/p>\n
The goal is to improve understanding of seismic activity in the Attica Basin <\/b>and to strengthen tools for assessing seismic risk.<\/p>\n
According to the decision<\/b>, published on Diaugia, the project is a continuation of a previous research<\/b> effort on microseismicity and the active tectonic structures of Attica<\/b>. The main objective is to utilize a three-dimensional seismic velocity model <\/b>to recalculate and more accurately locate <\/b>of earthquakes <\/b>recorded in the region over the past 15 years <\/b>and seismic protection<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The study will utilize modern data analysis methods <\/b>and machine learning techniques to process large volumes of seismological information. The results are expected to contribute to more accurate identification of active faults and a better characterization of the seismic behavior of Attica.<\/p>\n
The final deliverable <\/b>will include an updated seismicity catalog, which can be utilized in studies <\/b>on seismic hazard, in the design of major engineering projects<\/b>, and in Civil Protection operational planning.<\/p>\n
The public expenditure for this call amounts to 120,000 euros <\/b>and is covered by funds from the Ministry of Development\u2019s Sectoral Development Program for the period 2026\u20132030,<\/b> and the \u201cStrengthening Research and Innovation\u201d axis.
