On the show \u201cToday\u201d<\/strong> on SKAI<\/strong>, the MEP from New Democracy<\/strong>, Dimitris Tsiodras<\/strong>, argued that the European Parliament approved the 431 votes in favor<\/strong> the regulation on new plant breeding techniques in the European Union, while disagreeing with the MEP from PASOK<\/strong>, Nikola Farantouri<\/strong>, regarding the stance of the Socialist political group. <\/p>\n Dimitris Tsiodras<\/strong> stated that this specific intervention concerns the plants<\/strong> themselves, without altering their genes, and estimated that it could lead to crops requiring less water<\/strong>, less fertilizer<\/strong> and fewer pesticides<\/strong>. <\/p>\n As he emphasized, this development is positive both for the farmer<\/strong>, due to the reduction in production costs, and for the consumer<\/strong>, as it contributes to more sustainable farming practices. <\/p>\n Referring to the stance of the Socialists<\/strong>, the MEP from New Democracy<\/strong> argued that their political line was in favor of the proposal.
