The strategic plan <\/strong>to establish Greece as an international investment and geopolitical hub was presented by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas<\/b>, at the Growth Fund Investor Summit 2026.<\/p>\n

The minister emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships<\/strong>, while also announcing the launch of projects<\/b> as well as contracts expected to be implemented immediately.<\/p>\n

Geopolitical strategy and international networks<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mr. Dimas <\/b>placed particular emphasis on the country\u2019s strategic position, noting that amid international turmoil, Greece is leading the way in shaping European connectivity corridors. As he characteristically stated:\u00a0\u201cWe are leveraging our geopolitical position as a bridge of stability connecting Europe, the Balkans, the Black Sea, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East. Security, energy, transportation, ports, and digital infrastructure are interlinked pillars of a unified strategy\u201d<\/b>.<\/i><\/p>\n

In this context, the Minister referred to the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T Network<\/strong>), emphasizing the Baltic \u2013 Black Sea \u2013 Aegean (BBA)<\/strong>, as well as the India\u2013Middle East\u2013Europe Economic Corridor \u2013 Europe (IMEC<\/strong>), which designates Greece as a strategic gateway to the European continent.<\/p>\n

The \u201cpackage\u201d of summer projects and inaugurations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201c\u201cOnly this summer will we have the opportunity to inaugurate very important projects,\u201d<\/b> noted Mr. Dimas<\/b>, announcing the following imminent completions:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Extension of the E65:<\/strong> Completion of the northern section from Kalambaka to Grevena (45 km).<\/li>\n
  • Thessaloniki Metro:<\/strong> Extension of the line with five additional stations toward Kalamaria.<\/li>\n
  • BOAK:<\/strong> Completion of a 10-km section from Agios Nikolaos to Neapoli.<\/li>\n
  • Repair of \u201cDaniel<\/strong>\u201d damage:<\/strong> Re-establishment of the railway connection on the Athens \u2013 Thessaloniki, as well as the Paleofarsalos\u2013Kalambaka and Larissa\u2013Kileler sections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    At the same time, the Minister announced the signing of critical contracts, highlighting the creation of the triple junction at Skaramanga to relieve urban congestion caused by heavy vehicles, as well as the upgrade of air navigation systems (PBN and S-Mode radar).<\/p>\n

    The concession of Kalamata Airport<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Concluding his speech, Christos Dimas<\/b> referred to the signing of the concession agreement for Kalamata Airport, describing it as the result of a well-structured business plan that strengthens the Western Peloponnese.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThe utilization of every available source of funding and the private sector\u2019s contribution of its experience and expertise are the decisive factors \u2014along with the government\u2019s commitment to investment\u2014for ensuring the sustainability of critical infrastructure for Greece\u2019s security and economy<\/b>,\u201d the Minister concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
