At the inauguration <\/b>of the Information Technology and Cyberspace Directorate building at the Ministry of Ministry of National Defense<\/strong> was attended by Prime Minister <\/b>Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is a state-of-the-art three-story building with a total area of 2,500 square meters, which will house the Directorate of Information Technology and Cyberspace and Unit 1864 of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cA pivotal day for the security of our country.<\/b> Threats are becoming increasingly hybrid in nature, and risks extend beyond land, sea, and air. Transformation of the armed forces, with a comprehensive plan<\/b>. At the forefront, the entire spectrum\u2014every aspect\u2014is focused on the digital domain<\/b>,\u201d stated Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> in his opening remarks. <\/p>\n

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> spoke of \u201ca new, high-standard acquisition<\/b>\u201d at the Ministry of National Defense, with \u201cequipment befitting the critical work it carries out<\/b>,\u201d noting that modern threats are no longer limited to traditional theaters of conflict.<\/p>\n

\u201cWars are not waged only in the physical realm, but also on the digital front,\u201d he stated, adding that \u201cit is only natural for a government whose priority is to shield the country to be present on this front as well<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> described a security environment in which \u201cdangers extend beyond land, sea, and air, into space and cyberspace<\/b>,\u201d highlighting in particular the new forms of hybrid threats.<\/p>\n

As he said, these threats manifest themselves \u201csometimes through disinformation campaigns, designed to sow confusion and amplify extremist voices<\/b>,\u201d referring to \u201cinvisible wars that require constant vigilance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Linking the new structure to broader defense planning<\/b>, the prime minister emphasized that cyber defense is \u201cone of the most critical aspects of the 2030 Agenda<\/b>.\u201d \u201cThe new building is emerging as a flagship facility<\/b>,\u201d he noted, explaining that \u201call cybersecurity activities are brought together within a fully organized structure<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also made special mention of the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. \u201cAt a time when AI is making systems vulnerable, the challenge is even greater, and the response must be commensurate,\u201d he said, emphasizing that \u201cin a world of rapid developments and geopolitical upheavals, our country does not stand idly by<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> also highlighted the human resources<\/b> of the Armed Forces<\/b>, stating that the country has \u201can IT command team\u201d that forms \u201cthe technological backbone of the military<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister thanked the Laskaridis Foundation<\/b> for its contribution to the creation of the new facility, noting that the country now has \u201ca state-of-the-art digital stronghold,\u201d thanks to the Foundation\u2019s \u201cgenerous donation.\u201d<\/p>\n
