Suddenly, there are \u201cfabricated case files,\u201d \u201cpolitical prosecutions,\u201d \u201cbullying,\u201d and \u201cabusive behavior.\u201d The discussion shifts from the actual facts to the familiar rhetoric of personal persecution.<\/p>\n
The problem for Ms. Konstantopoulou is that the cases under review did not arise from any political disagreement. The more she presents herself as a victim of persecution, the more she attempts to rally her audience. Except that democracy does not function on the basis of personal narratives of heroization. It functions through rules, institutions, and accountability.
