Special emphasis was placed on the new, stricter legislative framework for <strong>addressing illegal migration<\/strong>, as well as <strong>the results achieved in reducing migration flows to Greece<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>At the same time, he briefed the U.S. ambassador on <strong>the challenges facing the European Union in implementing the new Pact on Migration and Asylum<\/strong>. He emphasized the importance of protecting external borders, combating migrant smuggling networks, strengthening return procedures, and establishing a coherent pan-European framework for managing migration pressures. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, they discussed <b>international developments<\/b> related to migration, as well as changes in the policies of many countries aimed at addressing irregular migration and refugee flows.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a high level of cooperation between Greece and the United States in the field of migration and asylum. They emphasized the importance of <b>close cooperation between the relevant agencies<\/b>, the exchange of expertise, and the application of best practices to address contemporary migration challenges.
