Extreme heat wave<\/b> “paralyzes” western Europe<\/b>, with record-breaking temperatures<\/b>, fatalities<\/b> and constant warnings from experts.<\/p>\n
The temperatures<\/b> recorded in recent days are affecting much of Western Europe<\/b>, with authorities in several countries on high alert. Meteorologists do not rule out the possibility that temperatures could even reach 45 degrees Celsius,<\/strong> while in some areas, emergency measures have been taken to protect citizens from the heat.<\/p>\n Despite the intense heat wave affecting countries such as Spain<\/b>, Portugal<\/b> and France<\/i><\/b>, Greece remains outside the main path of the very hot air masses<\/b>.<\/p>\n According to meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias, the reason the heat wave isn\u2019t affecting Greece is the northerly winds<\/b>, \u201cthe north winds that are pushing this hot air mass<\/strong> westward, reaching up to 8 Beaufort in recent hours,\u201d as he noted.<\/p>\n In her own forecast, ERT meteorologist Anastasia Tyraski states that \u201cwe have a combination of atmospheric instability and the meltemi winds.<\/strong> Both of these factors protect us from extreme temperatures<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to comment that: \u201cThis is good news because it appears that this heat wave affecting Western and Central Europe will not affect us,\u201d and she went on to explain that what is happening in Greece is that \u201ccertain weather disturbances passing through are preventing this heat dome from reaching our country<\/strong> and, combined with the meltemi, which brings cooler air masses from northeastern Europe toward our country.
