{"id":12493,"date":"2026-06-24T08:08:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T05:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=12493"},"modified":"2026-06-24T08:08:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T05:08:00","slug":"black-crows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=12493","title":{"rendered":"Black crows\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the warrant issued by the Belgian authorities for <b>Dimitris Avramopoulos<\/b> presents a legal and political paradox.<\/p>\n<p>The New Democracy MP and former European Commissioner had written approval from the president of the European Commission, as well as <b>a positive opinion from the European Commission\u2019s Independent Ethics Committee regarding his honorary participation in the NGO.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>All of this is confirmed by official documents, while the official who dug up the case from the archives apparently\u2026<b> was unaware that the compensation of 5,000 gross per month (for the period from February 2021\u2013February 2022) was legal, declared in the Declaration of Assets, and taxed. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>As for his involvement, how could he have known about the criminal activity of an NGO operating with the EU\u2019s blessing, nearly a year before the authorities uncovered its ties to Qatar?<\/p>\n<p><b>However, the \u201cvultures\u201d of politics and journalism smelled blood and rushed to condemn him before even reviewing the case file<\/b>. Aside from the fact that the case is a \u201c<b>hoax,\u201d<\/b> the Belgian authorities are not accusing Mr. Avramopoulos of \u201cblack\u201d money, but are investigating whether the funds came from illegal financing via Qatar.
