It is clear that all events are welcome in Athens<\/b>, but not at the expense of its residents, is Kostas Bakogiannis.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a message regarding yesterday\u2019s \u201ctraffic gridlock\u201d in the capital, as the City of Athens decided to close major city thoroughfares to host a road race,<\/b> the former mayor describes the situation as \u201ca scene of total traffic gridlock.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the leader of the \u201cAthens Up\u201d faction states in his post,<\/b> hundreds of thousands of citizens faced significant inconvenience due to the traffic regulations.<\/b><\/p>\n

He recalls that he had disagreed with and voted against this specific decision in the city council, pointing out that closing streets on weekdays and during business hours cannot be an option.<\/b> \u201cCity streets should not be closed on weekdays and during business hours for any reason,\u201d he states emphatically, adding that the daily lives of workers, professionals, and visitors must not be disrupted.<\/p>\n
