The assessment that the case of Dimitris Avramopoulos<\/strong> has no substantive basis was expressed by New Democracy MP, Dimitris Kairidis<\/strong>, while commenting on the latest developments. <\/p>\n As he noted, this is a \u201cridiculous affair\u201d<\/strong>, which, according to him, was already addressed back in 2021<\/strong>. He explained that the former commissioner served on the honorary committee of an NGO, having previously received written <\/b>permission from the president of the European Commission<\/strong>, Ursula von der Leyen<\/strong>. <\/p>\n Mr. Kairidis also maintained that the relevant income<\/strong> had been properly declared, while Mr. Avramopoulos left that position approximately one year later<\/strong>. <\/p>\n Referring to the legal developments, he noted that the former commissioner might have had to testify<\/strong>, adding, however, that because he is protected by immunity<\/strong>, the competent authorities responded by issuing the relevant warrant<\/strong>. <\/p>\n \u201cHe will testify and put an end to the matter,\u201d concluded Dimitris Kairidis<\/strong>, expressing his conviction that the case will not proceed further. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n Kairidis on Avramopoulos: \u201cIt\u2019s a ridiculous case that has been resolved since 2021.
