The picture of internal turmoil within the party of Maria Karystianou<\/strong>, \u201cHope for Democracy\u201d<\/strong>, is intensifying, as a second significant resignation<\/strong> of a senior member was recorded within a few hours. Following Vasilis Kokotsakis<\/strong>, retired Air Force General Athanasios Papanikolaou<\/strong> has now also left the political party.<\/p>\n Mr. Papanikolaou<\/strong> announced that he no longer wishes to have any involvement with ELPIDA<\/strong>, arguing that the party is turning into a \u201cclosed clique<\/strong>\u201d led by former officials of NIKI<\/strong>. According to him, these individuals are imbuing the political organization with characteristics of ideological<\/strong> and intellectual isolationism<\/strong>, steering it away from its original orientation.<\/p>\n Earlier, on his departure from \u201cHope for Democracy,\u201d Vasilis Kokotsakis\u2014 a forensic expert on fire-related matters and a retired officer of the Fire Department<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In his letter, Mr. Kokotsakis<\/strong> criticizes the way the project is organized<\/strong> and operates<\/strong>, citing the absence of collective procedures<\/strong>, institutional structure<\/strong>, and meaningful democratic participation<\/strong>.
