Leaders from SYRIZA<\/b>, PASOK<\/b>, the extra-parliamentary Left<\/b>, and even from the now-defunct ANEL<\/b>\u2014all of which are encompassed by the \u201cshadow government\u201d of ELAS<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Its stigma, which is reminiscent of the ideological and practical\u2026 mishmash <\/b>of the SYRIZA-ANEL<\/b> coalition government, is captured by the definition of the ELAS \u201cshadow government\u201d given by Alexis Tsipras.<\/p>\n
Just as he had done during the period 2015\u20132019<\/b>, but also after the elections that brought SYRIZA into the position of the official opposition<\/b>, Mr. Tsipras is attempting to signal an opening toward other political camps and to \u201creach out to<\/b>\u201d their respective voters. <\/p>\n
However, what he actually achieves is either to use old, worn-out material<\/b> or to exacerbate the confusion regarding his party\u2019s precise ideological identity and orientation.<\/p>\n Purging the former<\/b><\/h3>\n
Apparently, the majority of the leadership comes from SYRIZA<\/b>, which is marching with mathematical precision toward dissolution\u2014especially if Mr. Tsipras, despite what he claims through his associates <\/b>regarding strict selection criteria and procedures, continues the drain <\/b>of Koumoundourou\u2019s leadership cadre.<\/p>\n
However, among the \u201ctouches\u201d to the lineup of sector heads, there is no shortage ofreferences to PASOK<\/b>, while one also encounters officials from Yanis Varoufakis\u2019s MERA25 <\/b>or even from Panos Kammenos\u2019s long-forgotten ANEL, <\/b>where the paradox is that after the 2019 elections and the party\u2019s dissolution, most of its members joined SYRIZA<\/b>, despite the ideological differences they theoretically, at least, had.<\/p>\n
Apparently, however, Mr. Tsipras has proceeded with an extensive overhaul <\/b>of his inner circle of advisers <\/b>, despite the fact that the ranks of the sector heads and the leadership team of ELAS still include officials who stood by his side during his tenure at Koumoundourou. <\/p>\n
The most notable example is that of Michalis Kalogirou, <\/b>a former minister and director of his office, who was appointed president <\/b>of the Tsipras Foundation\u2014that is, the think tank <\/b>associated with ELAS. <\/p>\n
At the same time, the responsibility for coordinating the sector heads, in the capacity of a \u201cMinister of State,\u201d lies with Kostas Gavroglou,<\/b> who previously served as Minister of Education<\/b> in the Tsipras government. In addition, Giorgos Vassiliadis<\/b> has been appointed director of the political office of the ELAS president; he had also served as a minister and close associate <\/b>the former prime minister. <\/p>\n
Another former SYRIZA MP is Dionysis Temboneras, <\/b>who is now the head of the Labor Division at the Hellenic Police, while Mr. Tsipras\u2019s circle of economic and legal advisors includes Fragiskos Koutentakis, Zorzeta Lali, and Yianna Pepe. <\/b><\/p>\nGreen Party Transfers<\/b><\/p>\n<\/h3>\n
PASOK-affiliated officials include Marinos Skandamis <\/b>\u2014who in fact recently left the Harilaou Trikoupi headquarters\u2014as head of the Citizen Protection sector, the deputy head of the Health sector Giorgos Boulbasakos,<\/b> the deputy head of the Finance Department George Pappas<\/b>, the head of the Social Policy sector Marizeta Antonopoulou <\/b>, and Argyris Beteniotis, <\/b>son of former PASOK minister Manolis Beteniotis, <\/b>as Deputy Head of the Development and Trade Sector.<\/p>\n
Within the broader PASOK sphere and with trade union ties to the Athens Bar Association<\/b>, Dimitris Lyritsis and Christina Tsagli also belong to this circle. <\/b>Additionally, the deputy head of the Citizen Protection sector Antonis Saoulidis, <\/b>who was among the first officials to leave PASOK and join ELAS. <\/p>\n
Similarly, from the extra-parliamentary Left <\/b>comes the head of the Health Department Spyros Dritsas<\/b>, while the parliamentary candidate for MERA25 <\/b>was the agricultural union leader and current ELAS Head of Agricultural Development Thomas Moschos<\/b>. Finally, the deputy head of the Labor sector, Nektaria Angelaki, comes from ANEL <\/b>.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
