Old posts by the new head of the Rural Development sector of the party of Alexis Tsipras have resurfaced and, to say the least, caused some embarrassment regarding what he said back then about his current party leader.<\/p>\n

The appointment<\/strong> of Thomas Moschos<\/strong> as head of the Agricultural Development sector<\/strong> of EL.A.S.<\/b> brought his older posts back into the spotlight, which contained harsh criticism of Alexis Tsipras<\/strong>, positive references to the KKE<\/b> and MERA25<\/b>, as well as public statements that had sparked strong reactions.<\/p>\n

The announcement of the new sector heads<\/strong> of Alexis Tsipras\u2019s<\/strong> party was accompanied by a now-expected procedure: a review of the digital history<\/strong> of the new officials. Among the first figures to attract attention was Thomas Moschos<\/strong>, as within a few hours, his older posts began circulating again\u2014and they certainly did not go unnoticed.<\/p>\n

The posts reveal a political trajectory<\/strong> quite different from what one would expect from a top official of Alexis Tsipras\u2019s new party. In several of them, there is clear political sympathy for the KKE<\/strong>, followed by positive references to MERA25<\/strong>, while SYRIZA<\/strong> and Alexis Tsipras<\/strong> personally are often the target of particularly sharp criticism.<\/p>\n

The posts that stand out are those accompanied by the well-known photo<\/strong> of Alexis Tsipras<\/strong> with Mikis Theodorakis<\/strong>, in which Moschos questioned the political symbolism of the meeting, citing public statements by the great composer. <\/p>\n

The digital archive, however, also includes even harsher comments, in which criticism of Tsipras was accompanied by particularly strident historical parallels with the SA and Adolf Hitler, provoking strong reactions even at that time.<\/p>\n

The assumption of party duties<\/strong> now lends a different significance to those posts. What until yesterday were viewed as personal political opinions are now part of the public political profile of a person who officially represents EL.A.S.<\/strong> in the critical area of agricultural policy.<\/p>\n

And so, behind the scenes in the political arena, the first sarcastic comments began to surface. Many have noted that the effort to staff EL.A.S.<\/strong> seems to have drawn on figures from a broad spectrum of the indignant<\/strong>, which included those who viewed the KKE<\/strong> with sympathy, those who were politically invested in MERA25<\/strong>, and those who directed particularly harsh criticism at Alexis Tsipras<\/strong>. The distance from social media posts to a position as a sector head ultimately proved to be much shorter than many would have expected.<\/p>\n
