As part of the tours <\/b>of the New Democracy<\/b> in the Peloponnese, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister National Economy and Finance<\/b> Nikos Papathanasis<\/b>, paid a visit <\/b>to Megalopolis. <\/p>\n

The delegation also included the Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports Kostas Vlasis<\/b> and local party officials. <\/p>\n

Mr. Papathanasis <\/b>initially held a working meeting at the Megalopolis City Hall<\/b> with Mayor Kostas Michopoulos<\/b> and members of the City Council. <\/p>\n

The discussion focused on issues of concern to the municipality, the progress of the projects being implemented in the region<\/b> and the development prospects for Megalopolis<\/b> in the new era following the phase-out of lignite. <\/p>\n

This was followed by a meeting<\/b> with local stakeholders and representatives of the Just Development Transition<\/b>, during which the progress of the program\u2019s implementation for Megalopolis<\/b> was presented, along with the actions currently underway or planned for the near future. <\/p>\n

More specifically, the budget for interventions specifically allocated to the Megalopolis region amounts to 636 million euros<\/b>, the budget for calls for proposals that have been issued amounts to 480 million euros, while that for approved projects stands at 341 million euros. <\/p>\n

As noted by Mr. Papathanasis<\/b>, through measures to support entrepreneurship<\/b> and the implementation of the 294 approved investment projects in the region, it is expected that over 2,000 new jobs will be created<\/b>, of which 1,284 will be in the Municipality of Megalopolis. <\/p>\n

Concluding his visit, Mr. Papathanasis stated<\/b>: \u201cWith planning, determination, and efficiency, we are providing solutions to problems, fulfilling our commitments to our fellow citizens, and we are planning for the future<\/b> so that residents and businesses in the regions affected by the phase-out of lignite can stay and thrive in their communities. By increasing investment and creating even more jobs , we are building the Greece of 2030.
