{"id":12958,"date":"2026-06-26T11:05:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T08:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=12958"},"modified":"2026-06-26T11:05:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T08:05:00","slug":"the-turmoil-in-the-center-left-continues-skandamis-against-diamantopoulou-shes-spreading-fake-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=12958","title":{"rendered":"The turmoil in the center-left continues: Skandamis against Diamantopoulou \u2014 \u201cShe\u2019s spreading fake news\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marinos Skandamis responds to Anna Diamantopoulou, rejects her claims as fake news and escalates the political confrontation with sharp remarks.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>clash<\/strong> between <strong>Marinos Skandamis<\/strong> and <strong>Anna Diamantopoulou<\/strong> continues, with the current Head of the Citizen Protection Sector in his party, Alexis Tsipras responding to the former minister\u2019s statements regarding his tenure in the government of Antonis Samaras.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>His response regarding his tenure<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The feud began when <strong>Skandamis<\/strong>, announced that he would not be running for re-election as a member of parliament with PASOK, made pointed remarks about the messages being sent by the party headquarters on Harilaou Trikoupi Street, as well as <strong>Anna Diamantopoulou<\/strong>, regarding the possibility of post-election cooperation with New Democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to <strong>Parapolitika 90.1<\/strong>, <strong>Diamantopoulou<\/strong> commented that Mr. Skandamis \u201cwas secretary-general of the government when Mr. Samaras was prime minister,\u201d adding pointedly: \u201cIs this gentleman afraid that New Democracy will come to power? I won\u2019t answer that\u2014no comment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a new <strong>statement<\/strong>, <strong>Marinos Skandamis<\/strong> argued that his former minister\u2019s remarks provide him with an opportunity to set the record straight. As he noted, he served as <strong>Secretary General<\/strong> at the Ministry of Justice starting in 2009, during the premiership of George Papandreou, and remained in that position during the coalition government of <strong>PASOK<\/strong>, <strong>New Democracy<\/strong> and <strong>DIMAR<\/strong>, following a unanimous decision by PASOK when Vangelis Venizelos served as president, Nikos Androulakis<b><\/b> served as secretary, and <strong>George Papandreou<\/strong> served as a member of parliament.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Criticism of \u201cfake news\u201d and European etiquette<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Skandamis<\/strong> further argued that, based on the logic invoked by <strong>Diamantopoulou<\/strong>, it should be considered that <strong>Nikos Androulakis<\/strong>, in his capacity at the time, was also an \u201cinstrument of Mr. Samaras.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, he launched a new <strong>attack<\/strong> against the former minister, accusing her of \u201closing her <strong>European tact<\/strong> and spreading <strong>fake news<\/strong>.\u201d \u201cWhere has her cosmopolitanism gone? And why is she abandoning her Western rationalism? Let\u2019s leave the past where it is and change the future.
