Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a press conference he gave in Hebrew, after welcoming the agreement – framework reached yesterday with Lebanon under the auspices of the United States, calling it \u201ca blow<\/b>\u201d to Iran<\/b>and Hezbollah<\/b>.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u201cWe have reached a historic agreement for the State of Israel, following direct negotiations with Lebanon<\/b>,\u201d Benjamin Netanyahu stated during a televised press briefing. \u201cThis is a blow we have dealt to Iran and Hezbollah<\/b>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Benjamin Netanyahu stated, however, that under the new agreement \u201cIsrael has the freedom of action to prevent any threat against IDF soldiers in Lebanon, including so-called emerging threats\u201d<\/b>. <\/p>\n
Specifically, Benjamin Netanyahu<\/b> said: \u201cOur freedom of action is the freedom to prevent any threat against IDF soldiers. This is a clear directive to IDF soldiers. I have said it before and I will say it again: If you identify a threat, act. Not only do you have the right to act\u2014you have the obligation to act against an immediate threat<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n
Referring to the strikes against Hezbollah<\/b>, Benjamin Netanyahu said: \u201cIn accordance with these guidelines, 200 Hezbollah terrorists have been killed in the last two weeks, including in incidents where there was no immediate threat in the sense that something was right next to you, but where soldiers identified emerging threats<\/b>, such as when a group of soldiers spotted seven terrorists (ed. note: from Hezbollah) entering a building.\u201d<\/p>\nObjections from Ben-Gvir<\/h3>\n
For his part, the Minister of National Security <\/b>and far-right politician Itamar Ben – Gvir <\/b> expressed the exact opposite view from Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the bilateral agreement. Itamar Ben \u2013 Gvir described the framework agreement with Lebanon as a \u201chuge mistake,\u201d rejecting any credibility on the part of the Lebanese state to disarm Hezbollah.<\/p>\n
\u201cCertainly, we currently remain in most of the territory (of Lebanon), but the Lebanese state will not disarm Hezbollah<\/b>,\u201d Itamar Ben-Gvir stated via Telegram. <\/p>\n
