{"id":13238,"date":"2026-06-27T23:56:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T20:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=13238"},"modified":"2026-06-27T23:56:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T20:56:00","slug":"un-earthquake-damages-amount-to-6-of-venezuelas-gdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=13238","title":{"rendered":"UN: Earthquake damages amount to 6% of Venezuela&#8217;s GDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At 6% of the GDP of <b>Venezuela <\/b>account for 6% of the country\u2019s GDP, according to the initial assessment by the <b>UN<\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>According to the assessment conducted by the <b>United Nations Development Programme<\/b>, <b>the damage caused by the double earthquake that struck Venezuela <\/b>on Wednesday are estimated at approximately seven billion dollars, an amount equivalent to approximately 6% of the country\u2019s GDP, according to an assessment by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced today by the agency.<\/p>\n<p>This preliminary UNDP assessment, conducted in the hours following the devastating earthquakes, is based primarily on satellite imagery and demographic data.<\/p>\n<p>The UNDP clarifies that its assessment \u201c<b>does not include damage to infrastructure, the overall economic consequences, or the long-term costs of reconstruction<\/b>\u201d and notes that \u201cthe overall impact is generally up to three times greater.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that the estimate by the <b>International Organization for Migration <\/b>is that the twin earthquakes in Venezuela will directly affect approximately <b>6.76 million people,<\/b> including two (2) million in the capital, Caracas.
