Three years after the elections of 2023<\/strong>, the government<\/strong> can present a comprehensive review of projects<\/strong> and reforms<\/strong> and is entering the final stretch leading up to the 2027 elections<\/strong>, when its governing agenda will also be put to the test.<\/p>\n

The legacy of a three-year term focused on reforms<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The completion of three years<\/strong> since the second electoral victory of New Democracy<\/strong> provides the ideal opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of the government\u2019s performance, with the central political message \u201cWe said it, we did it\u201d<\/strong> taking on particular significance, as according to the Pre-Election Program Implementation Index<\/strong> of the Center for Liberal Studies<\/strong>, 91.6%<\/strong> of verifiable commitments have either already been implemented or are currently being implemented, a fact that reinforces this image of consistency between announcements and the actual implementation of government policy.<\/p>\n

This progress is evident across all areas of governance. The Greek economy<\/strong> maintained growth rates<\/strong> higher than the European average, employment<\/strong> continued to strengthen, and the country attracted new investments<\/strong>. At the same time, the reduction in the tax burden<\/strong>, the expansion of digital services<\/strong> provided by the government, the implementation of the Digital Work Card<\/strong>, the \u201cProlavano\u201d<\/strong> preventive health screening program, the establishment of non-state universities<\/strong>, the operation of the Thessaloniki Metro<\/strong>, progress on the Land Registry<\/strong>, and reforms in the judiciary<\/strong> form a network of changes that affect citizens\u2019 daily lives. Also part of this framework are the strengthening of the Armed Forces<\/strong> with the frigate Belharra<\/strong>, the country\u2019s participation in the new European defense programs<\/strong>, and the utilization of resources from the Recovery Fund<\/strong> are key pillars of the government\u2019s strategy for the coming decade.<\/p>\n

The assessment will take place in everyday life<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As the government enters the final year before the elections<\/strong>, the focus is shifting from the implementation of reforms<\/strong> to their impact on society. Further strengthening disposable income<\/strong>, addressing high prices<\/strong>, easing housing pressure<\/strong>, and further improving the functioning of the state<\/strong> are issues that will decisively influence the political assessment of this second term of the government led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/strong>. At the same time, accelerating the work of the judiciary<\/strong>, completing major infrastructure projects<\/strong>, and continuing investments<\/strong> remain critical objectives, as they are directly linked to the competitiveness of the economy<\/strong> and the quality of public services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Given Kyriakos Mitsotakis\u2019s<\/strong> intention to serve his full four-year term<\/strong>, this final period takes on particular political significance. The government aims to complete the reforms<\/strong> currently underway and to present the comprehensive Agenda 2030<\/strong>, through which it aims to maintain the country\u2019s momentum in the economy<\/strong>, institutions<\/strong>, investments<\/strong>, and defense<\/strong>. The final verdict, however, will depend on whether citizens perceive that the changes of the past three years have substantially improved their daily lives<\/strong>. If this happens, the slogan \u201cWe said it, we did it\u201d<\/strong> will take on even greater political significance, as it will be associated with a government that sought to transform pre-election pledges<\/strong> into concrete government initiatives<\/strong>, with consistency and continuity, and to lay the groundwork for the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
