Today, Monday, June 29, 2026, marks the start of the new phase of expansion for the Digital Work Card application.<\/b><\/p>\n
This phase includes:<\/p>\n
– consulting services, advertising, and other office activities,<\/b><\/p>\n
– the repair sector,<\/b><\/p>\n
– warehousing and transportation support activities (logistics),<\/b><\/p>\n
– water and wastewater management, and<\/b><\/p>\n
– gambling.<\/b><\/p>\n
The new expansion phase is being implemented on a pilot basis until November 15, 2026, and full implementation will begin on November 16.<\/b><\/p>\n
As with previous expansions of the Digital Work Card, during the pilot period, extensive consultations will be held with the relevant sectors, with the aim of optimizing the implementation of the measure and taking into account the specific needs and characteristics of each professional activity.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos<\/b>, stated:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Digital Work Card has proven to be an important tool for protecting workers and enhancing transparency in the labor market<\/b>. The Digital Work Card ensures the accurate recording of actual working hours, as well as the full payment of workers\u2019 statutory wages.<\/p>\n
The implementation of this measure has led to increases in reported overtime of up to +1,200% in certain sectors, while in 2025, 2.7 million more hours of overtime were reported compared to 2024.<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cWe protect workers; we protect healthy businesses from unfair competition; we effectively combat undeclared and underreported work.\u201d<\/p>\n
As noted in a related announcement, the first phase of the new expansion of the Digital Work Card began as a pilot program on June 2 and will run through October 11 <\/b>in the following sectors:<\/p>\n
– human health activities (hospitals, treatment and diagnostic centers), excluding physicians,<\/p>\n
– employment support services,<\/p>\n
– telecommunications,<\/p>\n
– specific service sectors, such as hair salons, beauty salons, and dry cleaners, and<\/p>\n
– service activities in buildings and outdoor areas, primarily cleaning services.<\/p>\n
With the two new expansion phases of the Digital Work Card , an additional 476,000 workers are covered.<\/p>\n
