“Let’s not forget that I set up the European Public Prosecutor’s Office<\/b> as Minister of Justice<\/b> in previous years,” Costas Tsiaras said.<\/p>\n

“And as a minister, I stood up and asked that my parliamentary immunity<\/b> be lifted<\/b> and voted on because I believe that nothing should be left in the shadows,” said Kostas Tsiaras<\/strong> speaking to ERTnews, calling on the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to move as soon as possible to run the process.<\/p>\n

“I have served the Greek parliament 23 years<\/strong> everyone has a personal path by which they are judged and I have always been in favour of the view that the MP does not remain coldly indifferent to critical issues. When I was Minister of Justice we made dozens of interventions and as Minister of Rural Development I undertook to deal with the number one pathogen, OPECKEPE,<\/strong> long before the European Public Prosecutor’s Office took over,” Costas Tsiaras said. “Let’s not forget that I set up the European Public Prosecutor’s Office<\/strong> as Minister of Justice<\/strong> in previous years,” he recalled.<\/p>\n

“I am in a position to present all the necessary evidence to my colleagues tomorrow and I intend to address the concerns about the role of the MP,” he said, 24 hours before the vote in parliament on the waiver of immunity of 13 New Democracy MPs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, Mr. Tsiaras pointed out that “he could question why he is on the list of political figures.” while he spoke of questions raised by the gradual filings<\/strong> and the selective leaking of names<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mostly all of this can be cleared up quickly, he said, and referred to the issues of concern: “We need to clarify what the role and meaning of the MP is,<\/strong> and also clarify what constitutes interference. Whether the MP is an observer of events, a mediator of interests or an active politician who can convey the voice, the problem, the need of each citizen, of each local society to the centre, existential questions in relation to the role of the MP,<\/strong> said Mr. Tsiaras.<\/p>\n

“One realizes that if any communication is criminalized, it can be related to an issue or a problem that exists and exists in general for a citizen or a local community.”<\/p>\n

“The question is what is considered intervention in this case.”<\/h3>\n
