In a scaling up its strategy against hybrid threats<\/b>, the European Union<\/b> is moving forward with new targeted measures to restrict networks<\/b> that, according to Brussels<\/b>, are actively involved in spreading pro-Kremlin<\/a><\/b> disinformation. The latest sanctions are directed against the Euromore platform and the Pravfond<\/b> foundation, which are accused of acting as multipliers of narratives<\/b> that undermine the credibility of European institutions<\/b> and reinforce arguments of Russian state propaganda<\/b>, particularly in the framework of the war in Ukraine<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The European Union is stepping up its response to Russian hybrid threats<\/b> by imposing new sanctions on two entities involved in disinformation campaigns<\/b>. According to ERTnews.gr, the Council of EU foreign ministers<\/b>, meeting in Luxembourg<\/b>, added the Euromore platform and the Pravfond Foundation<\/b> to the list, accusing them of systematically disseminating pro-Kremlin narratives<\/b>.<\/p>\nKremlin’s mechanism<\/h3>\n
According to the Council, Euromore acts as an informal propagator of Russian propaganda, recycling content that undermines the credibility of European institutions and attempts to legitimise the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
For its part, the Russian state-funded Pravfond produces legal and analytical material supporting key Kremlin claims, such as the “Nazification” of Ukraine and “persecution of Russian-speaking populations.”<\/p>\n
With today’s decision, the sanctions now cover 69 individuals and 19 entities. They include an asset freeze and a ban on the provision of financial resources by European citizens and companies.<\/p>\n
