An official visit to New York, from Friday 24 April to Monday 27 April 2026, will be made by the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Nikitas Kaklamanis will participate in the leading events of the expatriate community for the 205th anniversary of the beginning of the Hellenic Revolution of 1821.<\/b><\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by the House, the focus of the visit is on participation in the magnificent parade on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue<\/b>, which this year takes on special symbolic significance as its theme is dedicated to both the Greek Revolution and the completion of 250 years since the U.S. Declaration of Independence<\/b>, highlighting the shared ideals of freedom and democracy that bind the two nations.<\/p>\n
The programme of the official visit includes a visit by Mr. Kaklamanis will visit the historicSt. Demetrios Greek American School in Astoria<\/b>, where he will have the opportunity to meet with the new generation of Greek-Americans and the educational staff.<\/p>\n
Then the Speaker of the House of Representatives will meet with His Eminence Archbishop of America<\/b>. Elpidophoros<\/b>, and will attend the praise service at the Church of St. Nicholas at the World Trade Center.<\/b> The day will conclude with the celebration of the Greek flag at Bowling Green on Wall Street,<\/b> in the presence of a Presidential Guard contingent, in a highly symbolic gesture for the Greek presence in the heart of Manhattan.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Mr. Kaklamanis will attend the events of the Federation of Greek American Associations of New York, and will then participate in the Solemn Doxology at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.<\/b> The visit will culminate with the Speaker’s participation in the national parade on Fifth Avenue, where thousands of expatriates and friends of Hellenism are expected to flood downtown New York City to commemorate the struggle for freedom and independence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
