{"id":1982,"date":"2026-04-22T14:01:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T11:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=1982"},"modified":"2026-04-22T14:01:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T11:01:00","slug":"new-escalation-in-the-strait-of-hormuz-seizure-of-two-containerships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=1982","title":{"rendered":"New escalation in the Strait of Hormuz: seizure of two containerships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Navigation in the <b>Seaway of Hormuz<\/b> is entering a trajectory of further destabilization.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian forces have moved to <b>seize two containerships<\/b>, sending a message of tight control over the passage of ships through this critical sea route.<\/p>\n<p>As per Iranian sources, the <b>MSC Francesca and Epaminondas<\/b> are accused of moving in violation of navigation regulations and without the required authorization, thus &#8211; according to Tehran &#8211; endangering the security of the region.<\/p>\n<p>The same reports say the ships were placed under Iranian control and headed for the country&#8217;s coast.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular interest is the case of the<b> Epaminondas<\/b> (6,673 TEU, built in 1998), which, although managed by MSC and linked to Greek interests, is reported to have been hit by an Iranian naval unit.
