{"id":1992,"date":"2026-04-22T13:17:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T10:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=1992"},"modified":"2026-04-22T13:17:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T10:17:00","slug":"kyriakos-mitsotakis-to-edi-rama-important-opportunity-to-resolve-outstanding-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=1992","title":{"rendered":"Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Edi Rama: Important opportunity to resolve outstanding issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Prime Minister of <b>Albania<\/b>, Endy Rama, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, met with the Prime Minister of <b>Albania<\/a> today at the Megaro Maximou.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister spoke of an important opportunity to resolve outstanding issues and consolidate true friendship between the two peoples, while the Albanian Prime Minister, for his part, stressed that he is willing to complete what has been jointly agreed upon and that there are no outstanding issues.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is always good to take stock of the <b>significant progress achieved in our bilateral relations<\/b> and in our continued support for the difficult path you are following on the road to the European Union,&#8221; the Prime Minister said at the outset.<\/p>\n<p><b>&#8220;But I believe that we also have an important opportunity to resolve outstanding issues related to our bilateral relations that strengthen a true friendship,&#8221;<\/b> Kyriakos Mitsotakis added.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Edi Rama noted: &#8220;We are very willing to continue and complete what we have agreed together. Both in terms of strategic cooperation and all the issues that have been raised and there are no more outstanding issues between us.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>He also stressed the <b>importance of his country&#8217;s admission to the EU<\/b> for the upgrading of the region.<\/p>\n<h3>The dialogue<\/h3>\n<p>After the meeting, the Prime Minister and his Albanian counterpart had the following dialogue:<\/p>\n<p><b>Kyriakos Mitsotakis:<\/b>&#8220;It is always a pleasure to welcome you to Athens, dear Eddie, on the occasion of your participation in the Delphi Economic Forum. It is always good to be given the opportunity to take stock of the significant progress we have made in our bilateral relations and our continued support for the difficult path you have charted towards the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>But I believe that we still have an important opportunity to resolve the outstanding issues in our bilateral relations and to consolidate the true friendship between our two peoples.<\/p>\n<p>So it is an excellent opportunity to welcome you once again to Athens, and I know you love coming here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Eddie Rama: <\/b>&#8220;Thank you very much. And, to tell you the truth, I feel relieved that what should be left in the past is left in the past, because it gives me to a greater extent the opportunity to come more often to your beautiful country, which I love.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, I want to thank you sincerely for the support. <b>It is much appreciated<\/b>. And, yes, we are very keen to continue and complete what we have jointly agreed, a bold strategic partnership document where all the issues are addressed and there are no longer any outstanding issues between us, and we want to join the European Union and make this region much more important at that level as well.<\/p>\n<p>Again, thank you very much, Prime Minister. I am honored to be here, and I apologize for not being as formally dressed as you are, because I was not expecting such a reception.
