<\/b>The opinion that the Greek-Turkish<\/b> problems and the Cyprus<\/b> should not be an obstacle to the participation of Turkey<\/b> in the European security architecture<\/b> expressed by the former President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul<\/b>, speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum<\/b>.<\/span> <\/p>\n

On the occasion of the war in Iran<\/b>, Gul argued that Europe<\/b> must stop underestimating itself<\/b>, adding, however, that alone is not enough<\/b>. “We need a broad vision that includes the whole continent<\/b>, from Great Britain to Turkey<\/b>,” he noted, adding: “Turkey has a position of geostrategic importance<\/b>. It has military capability<\/b> and strategic reach that Europe needs today<\/b>.” <\/p>\n

In addition, he argued that Greece and Turkey<\/b> as neighbours should “solve problems instead of creating<\/b>“, considering that dialogue<\/b> and more opportunities for cooperation<\/b> are needed. “I supported a good friendship between Turkey and Greece<\/b>. I tried to create a positive climate and a positive agenda<\/b>. We need a positive climate<\/b>,” he added. <\/p>\n

He admitted that “there are problems between us”<\/b>, while asked about war threats<\/b> against Greece like President Tayyip Erdogan’s<\/b> for an invasion “one night”, he replied that it is a matter of populism<\/b> and that “extremists exist on both sides<\/b>. But we have to manage<\/b> them”. <\/p>\n

Finally, speaking about the situation in Israeli-Turkish relations<\/b>, he said there is tension but not conflict<\/b>. <\/p>\n
