{"id":2158,"date":"2026-04-23T11:24:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2158"},"modified":"2026-04-23T11:24:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:24:00","slug":"eu-informal-summit-in-cyprus-23-24-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2158","title":{"rendered":"EU: informal summit in Cyprus 23-24 April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leaders of the European Union<\/b> will meet in <b>Leipkosia<\/b> and <b>Agia Napa<\/b> over the weekend of <b>23 and 24 April<\/b>, <b>starting their work on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p><b>Host<\/b> of the informal session will be the President of Cyprus, <b>Nikos Christodoulides<\/b>, as Cyprus holds the Presidency of the Council until 30 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p><b>EU leaders will focus on the following issues:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the geopolitical environment and Europe&#8217;s response<\/li>\n<li>the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028-2034<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On <b>24 April, they will<\/b>attend an informal working lunch with key regional partners from <b>Middle East,<\/b> to discuss the situation, common challenges and emerging opportunities for cooperation.<\/p>\n<h3>Geopolitical environment and EU response<\/h3>\n<p>EU leaders will address the <b>conflict<\/b> in <b>Iran <\/b> and the <b>Middle East<\/b>, which poses serious challenges for the EU.
