We are on alert for hybrid threats, such as terrorist actions against Israeli or US targets on Greek soil, Thanos Dokos<\/b>, National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stressed, speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum<\/b>, in the session Strategic Faultlines: Managing Conflict and Building Resilience in Europe’s Eastern Periphery.<\/b><\/p>\n
“The instability in the Middle East was expected. Sometimes there is not so much tension. But I wish I could imagine the Middle East without conflict,” he said.<\/p>\n
About the war in Iran, he explained that the nuclear threat was imminent,<\/b> while the collapse of the regime was initially thought to be a matter of days. The latter apparently did not happen. “The situation is problematic. Accuracy is evident while fears that there will be insufficient oil on the market are a realistic scenario,” he stressed.<\/p>\n
Specifically for Greece, “there is a strong concern,” he said, “because many Greek-owned ships may find themselves trapped or blocked and unable to carry out their routes.”<\/p>\n
As for the ceasefire,<\/b> Dokos explained that at the moment there are many autonomous players in Iran which makes the situation more difficult. “Any commander can launch an attack that will take us back to square one,” he said, referring to the negotiations.<\/p>\n
The Front of the Revolution<\/b> has launched attacks against almost all its neighbours so, he assessed, “they do not want further escalation by targeting European countries.”<\/p>\n
“We are in close cooperation with both Israel and the US and all European countries as well as the Gulf states. The coordination has been constant in the last few weeks,”<\/b> he explained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
