The European Union<\/b> has unanimously approved a \u20ac90 billion loan<\/b> to Ukraine<\/b> and a new package of sanctions<\/b> against Russia<\/b>.<\/p>\n

According to the Cyprus Presidency of the EU<\/b>, the written procedure has been successfully concluded, with member states reaching a common position on both financing and on the 20th package of sanctions<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Cyprus’ finance minister Makis Keravnos<\/strong> said that the disbursement of funds will start “as soon as possible”<\/b>, underlining the importance of support.<\/p>\n

For his part, the president of Ukraine<\/b> Volodymyr Zelenski<\/strong> called the decision “an important day for our defense and our relations with the European Union<\/b>“.<\/p>\n

He said the funds will be used for strengthening the army<\/strong>, the supply of weapons, but also for strengthening critical infrastructure<\/strong>, especially in view of the coming winter.<\/p>\n
