{"id":2425,"date":"2026-04-24T16:44:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T13:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2425"},"modified":"2026-04-24T16:44:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T13:44:00","slug":"yannis-papachristou-the-superfund-is-transformed-into-an-active-investor-and-catalyst-for-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2425","title":{"rendered":"Yannis Papachristou: The Superfund is transformed into an active investor and catalyst for growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"193\">The <strong data-start=\"5\" data-end=\"40\">founded role of the Super Fund<\/strong> as a driver of <strong data-start=\"51\" data-end=\"87\">economic and social value<\/strong> was mentioned by the CEO of <b>Superfund<\/b>, <strong data-start=\"138\" data-end=\"161\">Giannis Papachristou<\/strong>, at the Delphi Economic Forum.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"195\" data-end=\"804\">Speaking at the panel entitled &#8220;Building Geopolitical Muscle: How Companies and Organizations Turn Insights into Strategic Advantage&#8221;, organized by BCG, Papachristou presented the <strong data-start=\"398\" data-end=\"407\">&#8220;3+1&#8221;<\/strong> strategy that underpins the management of the Group&#8217;s diverse portfolio. As he noted, the three main pillars relate to the <strong data-start=\"528\" data-end=\"561\">transformation of subsidiaries<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"588\">infrastructure development<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"629\">investment in the New Economy<\/strong>, while the fourth is to accelerate the maturation and tendering of <strong data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"723\">strategic projects<\/strong> through the Strategic Procurement Facility (<strong data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"802\">Project Preparation Facility &#8211; PPF<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"1098\">He mentioned <strong data-start=\"822\" data-end=\"853\">upgrading public transport<\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"855\" data-end=\"894\">75% electric buses by 2027<\/strong>), the ambitious project of <strong data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"966\">mapping 36.000 properties of the EBRD<\/strong> and the exploitation of <strong data-start=\"986\" data-end=\"1004\">1.000 of them<\/strong>, as well as the <strong data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1046\">restructuring of ELTA<\/strong> to improve sustainability and services.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1416\">The <strong data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1136\">transformation of subsidiaries<\/strong> is accelerating, with new business models, three-year strategic plans, clear <strong data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1221\">KPIs<\/strong> and corporate governance incentives. There is also a focus on <strong data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1304\">human resources<\/strong> through targeted education and training programmes, and in one year <strong data-start=\"1393\" data-end=\"1415\">60 new board members were appointed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1653\">Referring to the use of <strong data-start=\"1447\" data-end=\"1476\">critical national infrastructure<\/strong>, he noted that the tender for the <strong data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1563\">22 regional airports<\/strong> is underway, while the start of the tender procedure for the <strong data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1652\">port of Elefsina<\/strong> is expected.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"2130\">As for the <strong data-start=\"1672\" data-end=\"1716\">Hellenic Innovation and Infrastructure Fund<\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"1718\" data-end=\"1772\">Hellenic Innovation and Infrastructure Fund<\/strong>), stressed that it is a key step in the transformation of the Hellenic Sovereign Wealth Fund into a <strong data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1874\">Sovereign Wealth Fund<\/strong>, aiming at the implementation of <strong data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"1917\">co-investments<\/strong> in high value-added sectors of the <strong data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"1979\">New Economy<\/strong>. The Fund is expected to mobilise capital of <strong data-start=\"2042\" data-end=\"2057\">\u20ac1 billion<\/strong> over the next few years, contributing to the creation of <strong data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2129\">new jobs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2132\" data-end=\"2411\">She also made special mention of the <strong data-start=\"2173\" data-end=\"2180\">PPF<\/strong> project, which as of 2021 has conducted more than <strong data-start=\"2238\" data-end=\"2258\">850 tenders<\/strong>, leading to contracts worth more than <strong data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2308\">2.5 billion. In total, it has undertaken projects for tender with a budget of more than <strong data-start=\"2394\" data-end=\"2410\">\u20ac2.2 billion<\/strong>, while it has undertaken projects with a total budget of more than <strong data-start=\"2394\" data-end=\"2410\">\u20ac10 billion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2413\" data-end=\"3037\">At the debate organised by the Association of Higher Education Executives (<strong data-start=\"2481\" data-end=\"2489\">EASE<\/strong>) entitled &#8220;Productivity Leap through Innovation, Human-Centric Organizations, Corporate Governance&#8221;, Mr. Papachristou highlighted the <strong data-start=\"2620\" data-end=\"2648\">education-market gap<\/strong> as a critical problem, while stressing the need for <strong data-start=\"2692\" data-end=\"2719\">a productivity gap<\/strong> to converge with other European countries. &#8220;The productivity leap rests on three pillars: <strong data-start=\"2819\" data-end=\"2901\">education-economy link, strong governance and applied innovation<\/strong>,&#8221; he said, adding that &#8220;Greece has <strong data-start=\"2964\" data-end=\"3035\">strong human capital, flexibility and proven resilience<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3039\" data-end=\"3604\">The presence of the CEO of the Superfund concluded with his participation in the panel &#8220;Investment Strategies for an Unstable Era&#8221;, where he highlighted the <strong data-start=\"3199\" data-end=\"3247\">transformation of the Group into an active investor<\/strong>, through an integrated platform of investment tools. This includes the <strong data-start=\"3334\" data-end=\"3342\">HIIF<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"3365\" data-end=\"3376\">FAISTOS<\/strong> investment fund, the <strong data-start=\"3381\" data-end=\"3430\">Hellenic Defence Innovation Centre (ELKAK)<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"3438\" data-end=\"3461\">PHAROS (AI Factory)<\/strong>, the first AI factory in Greece.
