Greece is no longer considered a high-risk country but an attractive investment destination,” said Deputy Minister of Development Stavros Kalafatis, speaking at the 11th Economic Delphi Forum as part of the discussion on Life after the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF): investing for the next decade of growth.

High growth rates

“Greece will continue to record high growth rates after the Recovery and Resilience Fund,” Kalafatis said, recalling the resources of the National Development Programme, the New Programming Period of the NSRF 2028-2034 and three new funds that will contribute to growth such as: the Social Climate Fund, the Modernisation Fund and the Islands Resilience Fund.”

Talking about the sectors that will define the growth model of the next decade, Kalafatis referred to energy and the green transition. On life sciences and health. Cutting-edge technologies. “By investing in new technology infrastructure, Greece is creating jobs for highly skilled scientists, turning the country into a regional hub of innovation and technology,” he said. As well as in agrotechnology and precision agriculture.

Greece is becoming a major digital innovation and AI hub

“We have moved from the lagging phase to the acceleration phase. With the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence fully aligned with AI Act and the strategic partnerships of the government with leading technology companies as well as the new infrastructure in AI and Data Centers that we are forming, with a substantial contribution of our research centers, such as “Athena”, “Demokritos”, “EKETA”, -where we recently inaugurated the AI Nucleus- our country’s position is getting stronger. With an upgraded geopolitical position, economic stability and growth and a pro-investment environment, Greece is becoming an important hub of digital innovation and AI”, Kalafatis said, speaking at the discussion on the topic: “The Price of AI: Cost, Value and Real Returns”, at the Economic Delphi Forum.

“AI does indeed require significant resources, computing power, data, skilled human resources and capital. However, we strongly believe that the cost of inaction is much higher than the cost of investing in it,” the Deputy Minister of State for Development stressed, adding: “We do not see AI as a fragmentary programme but as a building block of the country’s new production model based on the knowledge economy and which offers competitive advantages in terms of the future.” Referring to the sustainability of the investment in AI, “this is ensured through five pillars,” the Deputy Minister said and pointed out: “First axis: First axis: Investment in AI needs clear rules, predictability and regulatory certainty. Second axis: National Infrastructures, which act as value multipliers such as the “DAIDALOS” supercomputer, the second AI supercomputer in Western Macedonia, the “Pharos” AI, Data Centers, which are essentially a new investment destination. Third axis: Linking research to the market with major investments for the upgrading of research centres of more than €370 million, aiming to link research work with the needs of the economy and the market. Fourth axis: Incentives to mobilise private capital. Tax incentives for start-ups and companies investing in R&D and AI, incentives to support business angels and a new special regime for new technologies and AI in the Development Law with a budget of €150 million. Fifth axis: Human Capital and Reskilling. More than 40% of workers need retraining. We are moving in this direction through partnerships with international new technology giants such as Open AI for training civil servants and business executives. Our goal is the continuous retraining and lifelong education of human resources in terms of the future,” the Deputy Minister stressed.

With AI, green transition and new investments, the country is strengthening its competitiveness and becoming a hub for innovation and innovation in the …

[3

post-2485","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
